Steven Spielberg may reunite with Daniel Day-Lewis, the Oscar-winning star of historical biopic Lincoln, according to Deadline. The pair are considering the project Thank You for Your Service, about soldiers dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, by screenwriter Jason Hall.
The news is buried in a feature about Hall that details his journey from wannabe actor to one of Hollywood’s most in-demand writers. Thank You for Your Service, based on the forthcoming book by Pulitzer prize-winning Washington Post reporter David Finkel, is still under consideration, and actor and director may yet decide to pass.
Spielberg has already agreed to adapt Hall’s screenplay for American Sniper, about Chris Kyle, the late US navy seal, with Bradley Cooper in the lead. The upcoming film is based on Kyle’s bestselling autobiography. The soldier, who claimed to have killed as many as 255 people in the line of duty – making him the most lethal US sniper ever – was shot and killed in February at a shooting range near Chalk Mountain, Texas, by a fellow veteran who may have had post-traumatic stress disorder.
Congratulations to Mr. Day-Lewis for winning Best Actor for his role in Lincoln! I have added pictures of him and lovely Rebecca at the show, as well as lots of pictures of him during his acceptance speech:
Congrats to DD-L for winning the BEST ACTOR award at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in Los Angeles, CA tonight. Hopefully this bodes well for him taking home the award at the big one, the Academy Awards! Pictures will be added tomorrow.
